West Virginia Real Estate License Requirements

The following lists any applicable pre-licensing, continuing education, renewal, and reciprocity requirements for West Virginia real estate licensing.

Real Estate Education Requirements:
  • West Virginia real estate salesperson license: 90 hours
  • West Virginia real estate broker license: 180 hours
State Reciprocity:

Out-of-state licensees who wish to obtain a West Virginia real estate license (salesperson or broker), must pass the West Virginia-specific portion of the licensing examination, in addition to the current requirements.

Continuing Education And/Or License Renewal Requirements:
  • Real estate professionals in West Virginia must renew their real estate licenses by December 14 of even-numbered years
  • In each two-year cycle, licensees need to complete 7 hours of elective real estate CE classes
